Statement:
The stories reside in my subconscious and I use oil paint and water-based ink to reveal them in my work. Each piece begins with a desire to showcase emotion with movement, a desire that is portrayed to viewers. Rather than producing meticulously detailed likenesses of actual events and images, I exhaust possibilities to regenerate and uplift. I utilize classical elements of paintings and transform them with a splash and wash technique. The ideas in the paintings remain unchanged. The oil merges with water; the muddled pool can be filtered and purified and they are a reflection of my ongoing search for meaning and beauty in life. I believe any over-saturated condition or emotional turbulence can become organized. No matter what the tableau, I create spaces to distill the essence of abstraction and realism in which the ecstatic engagement with landscape, wildlife, human figures, shrines and mythical images emerge. Nothing and everything are in me, and I rely on a leap of faith to explore and interpret the way that I see the world. With inexhaustible expanse for hope, I bury one layer, I reveal another.
